Week 1 - Handa's Surprise

Lesson 2 - Sequencing & Retelling

 

* If possible, either cut out & stick in order the pictures below, or number them 1-10.

* Then, retell the story to a grown up / older sibling. Use full sentences, joining them with time words, and interesting vocabulary

(e.g. 'First, the monkey took the soft, yellow banana.'). You may want to use the stick puppets below.

Lesson 3 - Retell (in writing)

 

* Either on the sheet itself or in your workbook, write a simple sentence to retell what is happening in each of the pictures on the sheet. Use the word mat below for key spellings, and your sound mat. Remember finger spaces, a capital letter at the beginning of each sentence, and a full stop at the end. The describing words do not need to exactly match the ones used in the story.

 

Superheroes & Pirates e.g. First the monkey took the soft yellow banana. (Use the time words mat below)

 

Aliens & Monsters e.g. The monkey took the soft banana.

Lesson 4 - An English Surprise

 

* Either on the sheet itself or in your workbook, rewrite 'Handa's Surprise' as 'An English Surprise'. Choose an animal and a fruit that you would find in this country for each box . Use the fruits word mat below for key spellings, and your sound mat. Remember finger spaces, a capital letter at the beginning of each sentence, and a full stop at the end. 

 

Superheroes & Pirates e.g. First the sheep took the shiny red apple. (Use the time words mat below).

 

Aliens & Monsters e.g. The sheep took the red apple.
