Assessment Performance

Assessment Performance 2017

The way that assessments are recorded changed in 2016.  Rather than National Curriculum Levels a simpler system is now used.

Children will either be judged to be At the Expected Level, Working Below the Expected Level or Working at Greater Depth.

In order to be at the Expected Level children need to be able to be at that expected level in all elements assess, rather than the previous 'best fit' approach.

In tests, children are also given a scaled score where 100 means a child is at the expected level.

Writing is only assessed by the teacher based on work in the class rather than by tests.

Based on the information the tests tell us, we made reading and spelling priority areas in our School Improvement Plan for the year 2016/17.

In both Key Stages, last year's results were a very successful year for the school.  In most subjects, at most levels, the school performed better than average.

In the information, each child at St Thomas' counts for about 3%.
